Terms & Conditions

The rules for using this website, and what happens when you buy a policy on it.

Last updated: 12 October 2026

These terms apply when you use this website, methaq.ae, which is operated by Methaq Takaful Insurance P.S.C. (“Methaq”, “we”, “us”, “our”). By using the website you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use it.

Sections 10 to 14 explain how buying a motor policy on the website works.

Your insurance is governed by your policy documents — your policy schedule and policy wording — not by these terms. If the two disagree, your policy documents win.

How we collect and use your personal information is explained in our Privacy Policy at methaq.ae/privacy. Our mobile app has its own terms, at methaq.ae/app-terms.

1. Who we are

Methaq Takaful Insurance P.S.C. is a UAE public shareholding company providing takaful insurance. It was incorporated in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi on 24 March 2008 under trade licence number 1142419, and it is listed on the Abu Dhabi Securities Exchange (ADX: METHAQ).

Methaq is regulated by the Central Bank of the UAE. Our policy schedules state our registration as: registered under UAE Federal Law No. (8) of 1984, Registration No. 1011.

Our head office is at Liwa Tower, ADNEC Area, M Floor, Abu Dhabi (P.O. Box 32774, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates). We also have offices in Dubai and Al Ain, listed at the foot of every page.

2. Takaful

Every policy offered on this website is a takaful policy. Takaful is Sharia-compliant insurance built on mutual cooperation. Members contribute to a shared fund and support one another when a loss happens — with no interest and no uncertainty, overseen by an independent Sharia Supervisory Committee.

Methaq manages the takaful fund on behalf of its participants. The fees Methaq receives for doing so are set out in the Memoranda of Takaful Principles and Conditions that come with your policy.

Where this website says “premium”, it means the contribution you pay for your takaful cover.

3. Using this website

The website is intended for people aged 18 and over. The motor quote journey is for holders of a UAE driving licence.

You do not need an account. You can read about our products, ask us to contact you, get a motor quote, send your documents, renew a Methaq motor policy and follow your requests on the same browser, all without signing in.

Please use the website only to find out about Methaq's products and to arrange cover for yourself, or for someone who has asked you to. You must not:

  • use it for anything unlawful, or make a request in another person's name without their permission

  • try to find someone else's policy, guess numbers, or use the website to collect other people's details

  • try to break the website, overload it or copy it, or reach data that is not yours

  • upload anything that is not a genuine document or photograph, or that could harm the website or the people who use it

We may block misuse and report it to the authorities.

4. The information you give us

UAE law requires complete honesty and full disclosure of all material facts in an insurance contract (Article 31 of Federal Decree-Law No. 48 of 2023 concerning Insurance Business). Everything you tell us must be true and complete — about you, your car, your driving history and your no-claims record.

We price your cover and issue your policy on the basis of what you tell us and what your documents show. Giving false, misleading or incomplete information may lead to:

  • your policy being cancelled

  • claims being refused

  • legal action under UAE law

  • you having to return any benefits received under a policy obtained through a false declaration

If you notice a mistake, tell us before you pay. If you find one after your policy is issued, call us straight away so we can correct it.

5. Your documents

To quote and issue motor cover we need photographs of your Emirates ID, your UAE driving licence and your vehicle registration card (Mulkiya), front and back. In some cases we also need proof of ownership or a trade licence. Upload only your own documents, or documents you are allowed to use, and make sure they are current and readable.

The printed details are read from your photographs automatically. Please check what the website shows you, because your price and your policy are based on it. How the reading works, and where it happens, is explained in our Privacy Policy.

6. Quotes and prices

The prices you see are produced by Methaq's own pricing system for the details you have given. A price is a quote, not cover: you are covered only once your policy has been issued.

A price can change — for example if the details read from your documents differ from what you told us, or when your request is checked again before you pay. If the price changes, we show you the old and the new price, and you decide whether to go ahead. Some requests are passed to an advisor instead of being completed online.

7. Agreeing and signing online, and how we contact you

Some steps are completed on screen. If you claim a no-claims discount, UAE insurance rules require a signed declaration: you sign it by typing your name, and we record the exact words you were shown, the language, and the date and time.

Typing your name to sign, pressing a button that confirms a step (such as “I've read this — continue” before you pay), and entering the code we text you are how you give your agreement on this website.

We send quotes, confirmations and policy documents to the email address you give us, and one-time codes to the mobile number you give us. Please make sure both are yours and correct.

8. Information on this website, and services run by others

The product information on this website is a general description. The cover, the excess and the conditions of any policy are set out in its policy wording, which we send you with your documents.

Some services on the website are run for us by other companies: the live chat is operated by VioneX Technologies, and card payments are taken on a secure payment page operated by Network International. Our claims portal, linked at the foot of every page, is a separate service.

We try to keep the website available, but it may be unavailable for maintenance or for reasons outside our control. The chat has opening hours.

The Methaq name and logo, and the content of this website, belong to Methaq. You may view and print pages for your own use; please do not copy or reuse them for any other purpose without our written permission.

9. Our responsibility to you

Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under UAE law, or any duty Methaq has under your policy.

Subject to that, Methaq is not responsible for loss caused by things outside our reasonable control, such as a mobile-network or internet failure.

10. Buying a motor policy on this website

Where buying online is offered for your request, you can buy motor cover on this website — new cover, or the renewal of a Methaq motor policy — without an advisor. Our systems decide automatically whether a request can be completed online. If it cannot, for example because a document needs a closer look, an advisor will contact you to finish it.

Medical insurance and our other products are not sold online. You can ask for a quote or a call back, and an advisor completes the purchase with you.

When you buy online, this is what happens:

  • You choose a plan from the prices shown, and give us your name, mobile number and email address

  • You send photographs of your documents, straight away or later from your request page

  • Before you pay, we show you a summary: what you are buying, what it costs, when your cover starts, your right to cancel, and who you are buying from

  • We text a one-time code to your mobile to confirm the number is yours, and we check your documents again

  • You pay by card on Network International's secure payment page

  • Once your payment clears, your policy is issued automatically. No advisor needs to review it first

11. Paying

Payment is by card, on a secure payment page operated by Network International (N-Genius). The page opens in the same browser tab. Your card details are entered on that page and go directly to Network International; this website never sees, handles or stores them.

The amount to be charged is shown on the payment page before you confirm, and again on your policy schedule.

If your payment does not go through, no policy is issued and you are not covered yet. You can start the payment again from your request, or talk to us and we will help.

If you think you have been charged but your policy has not been issued, call us on 600 565 695 with your request reference, and we will look into it and come back to you.

12. When your cover starts, and how long it lasts

Your cover starts once your policy has been issued, not when you press pay.

For new cover, you choose when it starts: as soon as your policy is issued, or on a later day of your choice, up to 30 days ahead. If your current insurance ends more than a day before the date you choose, an advisor checks the gap with you before you pay.

A renewal starts the day after your current Methaq policy ends. If you already have a Methaq policy on the same car, your new cover starts the day after that policy ends.

A policy bought on this website runs for 13 months from the day cover starts. Your policy schedule shows the exact dates that apply.

13. Your policy documents

When your policy is issued we email your policy documents to the address you gave us. You can also download them from your request page, on the browser you used.

Your documents include your policy schedule and the policy wording. Please read them and keep them safe: they, not this website, set out exactly what is covered, the excess and the conditions. Check the name, the car and the dates on your schedule as soon as you receive it, and tell us straight away if anything is wrong.

14. Cancellation and refunds

Cancellation and refunds are governed by your policy terms and by UAE insurance regulation. What you get back, and when, depends on those terms and on your policy.

If you want to cancel, or you want to know where you stand before you buy, call us on 600 565 695 or email our motor team at MtrUwDxb@methaq.ae, and we will go through it with you.

15. Complaints

If you are unhappy with anything, tell us. Call us on 600 565 695 or email complaint@methaq.ae, and we will look into it and come back to you.

Methaq is regulated by the Central Bank of the UAE.

16. Changes to these terms

If we change these terms, we will update the date at the top of this page. If we change them in a way that matters, we will also tell you on the website.

17. Law and language

These terms are governed by the laws of the United Arab Emirates, and the courts of the United Arab Emirates have jurisdiction.

These terms are published in English and Arabic. If the two versions differ, the Arabic version prevails.
