Methaq Takaful Donates AED 500,000 to RCS Relief Campaign for Flood Victims in Pakistan

Methaq Takaful Insurance Co. has donated AED 500,000 to a special nationwide relief campaign launched by the UAE Red Crescent Society (RCS) in support of the victims of the devastating flood which recently hit Pakistan.

The campaign dubbed: "Awnukum" (Arabic for: Your Help), which is in line with the directives of UAE President, H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, is aimed at reaching out to the victims of the flood in Pakistan to alleviate their sufferings.

Mr. Mohammed Al-Alawi, Executive Support Manager, Methaq Takaful, presented the cheque to Mr. Mohammed Al-Hammadi, RCS Deputy Secretary General for Local Affairs, at the RCS headquarters in Abu Dhabi.

Commenting on the subject, Mr. Abdullah Al-Maamari, Managing Director, Methaq Takaful said: “ The donation towards the relief and humanitarian assistance campaign embarked upon by the RCS is to provide support to the people of Pakistan in this time of difficulty and to alleviate their sufferings, as a result of the devastating flood which hit a large portion of that brotherly country".

He pointed out that the donation underscores Methaq Takaful’s commitment towards its social responsibility obligations, besides the noble mission of reaching out to people in distress, thereby supporting social solidarity and contributing to sponsoring of social and humanitarian interests through the special bodies entrusted with playing that role in the UAE. Notable among them being the RCS, which is the pioneer of humanitarian and relief works in the country, with enviable track record in humanitarian works inside and outside the country.

For his part, Al-Hammadi praised Methaq Takaful for its initiative, which, he said, manifests the company’s commitment to assisting the needy and other people in distress, including victims of natural disasters like flood, earthquake and others, adding that Methaq Takaful will continue to assist the RCS in boosting its efforts of building bridges between donors and people in distress.

He pointed out that the RCS, thanks to the support it receives from individuals, institutions and corporate bodies like Methaq Takaful, has succeeded in reaching out to many people around the world to alleviate their sufferings. He said the RCS had also succeeded in providing valuable assistance to those in need inside the country, making it achieve its objectives through its various activities which cover various humanitarian areas in many countries of the world, particularly, those hit by natural disasters.
